Teaching Science with Certification, Master of Arts

Deepen your content knowledge and enhance classroom practice with NAU’s online Master of Arts in Teaching Science with certification program. With a focus on research-based teaching strategies, this program solely targets science education. You’ll learn to make science accessible to all students by sharing it as a living experience rather than just a series of textbook lessons.

As part of a supportive cohort of high-achieving peers, you’ll study under faculty mentors who specialize and conduct research in science education for grades 6-12. Designed to be completed in two years on a part-time basis, the program allows you to build on your knowledge and experience. You’ll study the interaction of environment, learners, methods, content, and curriculum. More important, you’ll find creative, inspiring methods for piquing students’ curiosity about the web of life in our universe.

Upon graduation with your fully accredited master’s degree in education, you’ll have certification to teach biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, or general sciences at the middle- and high-school level.

This program is nationally recognized by the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) and  accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

Structured online degrees have five start dates each semester, so you can enroll on your timeline.
